What is a Floppy I/O Error?

Post by Mike89 »

I'm having problems with my floppy. It will boot ok using boot to floppy in BIOS. But when trying to open a floppy in Windows XP, I either get insert disk (disk is already inserted) or a message saying there is an I/O error.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

Have you had the drive out, is the cable connected right? If not trash it.

Floppy drives are a dime a dozen these days. You can get them around here for less then 10 bucks.

yes I have tried different floppies. I can boot to the floppy and it reads fine. I can try to open the very same floppy in Windows XP and get that error or a message saying to insert the disk.
