Got a tbird and an MSI K7T Turbo 2 board for my kid for christmas. Install board in case plug PS in and drives and fan start to spin up before power button is pressed. No boot. Curse, pull plug on PS, double check everything, reseat everything, try again. Same thing. Try different PS. Same. Move memory around. Same. Clear CMOS and pull FSB jumper to set FSB to 133. Boots and runs fine.
Hook up CD drives and load new drivers. Boot and reboot many time, all works ok.
Son takes home to his house. Plugs in to wall. Fans spin up, drives run before power button is pushed. No boot. Clears the CMOS with jumper. Plugs in. Fans spin up, drives spin up. No boot.
Reseats all cards. Sets FSB jumper to 100, no boot. Sets FSB jumper to 133. No boot. Pushes on BIOS chip to ensure it is seated. No boot.
CPU, Video and memory all work fine in my IWILL KK266 board.
I am aware that some early version of the manual for this board contained a typo reversing the jumper positions for clearing the CMOS. Using a downloaded manual for the board, which supposedly has the correct settings for the CMOS jumper, as a guide and still no luck.
Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?

will the machine boot off a floppy? if so maybe the boot files on the hdd don't work. as for the machine turning on when the power button is not pushed some atx's will do that when first plugged in because it may have a setting for "state after power failure" it may be set to on. also does bios recognise the hdd? if hdd is recognised and it will boot after you poke around in the case you may possibly have a bad hdd cable.

if you had a voltmeter you could test the battery ,should read about 3 volts. if you are positive that all the components work and cpu core voltage & frequency is set, its possible you have a bad board. i have a soyo dragon, the first one they sent me did like what yours is doing exept it has no jumpers i sent it back and this new one works great.

Just for kicks, remove the battery and leave it out for a while (an hour or two). I had a similar experience with that mobo, and that knocked it out. The auto-spin-up when plugged in only happened for me when the CMOS jumper was set to "clear"; I gather you're seeing the same thing with the jumper in either position.
And, yeah, I pulled my hair out with it before realizing that the jumper position was indicated wrong in the manual.
