- You sure that you have a good Startup disk?

- Do you have a Windows Startup disk that came with the Windows CD, or just a Windows boot disk you made yourself?

- WHAT exactly happens when you start the computer with the Startup disk in the floppy? Does it POST (get past detecting the hard drives and testing the memory)? Does it give you an error message? Does the light on the floppy drive come on? Does it dump you at the DOS prompt?

- Does the light on the floppy drive stay on even if you eject the floppy? If so, then the ribbon cable is connected to the floppy upside down.

- You should also be able to install Windows without the Startup floppy - if you have the boot order set to CDROM first in BIOS, then you should be able to boot from the Windows CD.
