Monitor frequency error in Win2000 Pro, but not in Win98SE

Post by JC »

I don't know if this is an OS problem, or a driver problem.

Same system (KT7A, Athlon 1.4, Voodoo5, Mitsubishi 91TXM 21") except Win98SE on SCSI HD, then switch to IBM 371350 IDE HD for Win2000 Pro.
Using 1.04 3dFX drivers in Win2000, 1.04.01 beta drivers in Win98SE.

Problem is: I use 1280x1024x32 85Hz in Win98SE, no problem. When setting up Win2000 Pro, I used the same (except only 16bpp) and at shutdown I get an error message from the
monitor, 'frequency out of range'. Changed to 75Hz, same problem. I know the monitor's capable of 85Hz at this resolution, what gives?

Thanks
JC

Try installing the monitor specific INF file to load appropiate drivers.

2000 and XP have problems with refresh rates, as it defaults to 60hz. I do not know how to correct it with a Voodoo 5 though, maybe Powerstrip.
