CDRW problem

Post by sethpa »

Buddy of mine is having fits with NEC 7700A cdrw drive. For some reason, XP doesn't see it as a read/write drive. Only sees it as CD reader/DVD drive. Looked at NEC website, they don't even list a CDRW drive that I can find, got any ideas?

thanks,
sethpa

Looks like it is a rebadge Ricoh drive. Can't find anything on the NEC site. :(

NEC wont support OEM drives apparently

see here

Review on the 7700A

and this thread at cdrlabs.com. They mention it being a Ricoh MP7125A, so if you are feeling adventurous....

Have you applied the CDRW patch for XP? It's available from Windows Update.
