It has been a good year for me and my computer...very impressed...I have basically built 3 new computers for what it cost me to build my first a few years ago. Hardware prices are so nice recently. Of course, as far as internet connection goes, I have DSL at home via Bellsouth.net which is amazing on my home network of 6 PC's...and I have a network connection here at school (T3)...so I am surfin the net in style now.
Matt

Baby The other other white meat!

1) New state of the art Toshiba notebook computer (P3-850mhz, 14.3", DVD, 376mb ram), not really an "upgrade" per-se but it replaced my old, very slow Canon 360, AMD 133mhz laptop where its screen finally died.
2) XP Pro upgrade for spare #2 PC (still no rush to replace Win2K in main #1 SCSI PC).
3) New inexpensive yet very impressive 19" MAG monitor for #2 PC (replacing an old 14.5" monitor).
Otherwise, no new part upgrades this year as everything used/built in '00 is still very functional, no complaints or problems thus can't justify new parts.
hmmmm
Top 3....
1 - traded my GF2 GTS for a GF3 Ti200 which runs 240/520
2 - traded my Epox 8K7A for a Soyo DRAGON+
3 - traded my Iomega 12x CDRW for an AOpen 24X CDRW
Well, I thought I wouldn't get any upgrades this year since I got a laptop last Christmas but getting Win XP prompted me to change a few things:
1. XP1600+ @1.59GHz (nice upgrade from P3-700@933)
2. Geforce 3 Ti200 @230/540 from GF2 (nice speed increase at high res)
3. switching from PC133 to DDR was great (768M Crucial PC2100)
Oh, I forgot the two WD drives (100 and 120GB) and the KT266a mobo, but hey you said only 3.
Just upgraded from athlon 1.1ghz on azza crappy mobo, 384megs pc100 running at 136fsb to
Epox8k7a with athlon xp 1.4 @ 1.54 running 145fsb DDR 256meg 2100ddr stick.
Still to come is my 8500 to replace the 64meg vivo I have now
1) NTL modem connection-> NTL Cable, makes internet a totally different experience and SO good value.
2) Upgraded Geforce DDR -> Geforce 3 Titanium 200, WHAT A DIFFERENCE, like bl**dy hell! I strongly recommend joining the Tit club. It's great, now everything runs 1024x768 @ 32bit and is still fast, everything looks so pretty.
3) Tie between Upgrading Chip from 800-1.3Ghz Athlon and Mem from 256Mb-> 512Mb mostly to accomodate XP.
