PLEASE don't turn off my @home cable

Post by VidmanII »

How can I go back to dial-up ?????? dnload is actually pretty slow on this test too.

Your download speed : 2709864 bps, or 2709 kbps
Browsers would show : about a 330.7 k/sec transfer rate
Your upload speed : 1132502 bps, or 1132 kbps.
Your connection rocks .. above the 1mbit barrier!

** notice un-capped upload. :D Hope I still have it at this time tomorrow :(

I hope that judge on the case has cable access and let's it stay up while the barracudas sort thru this mess.

Spoiled eh. :P

Still on dial up meself but my brother just got cable. His download speed has gone from a high of 200k to usually under 100k and as lost as just 3k. Very unpredictable and not what he expected.

Well don't feel left out boys, I'm stuck on a 56k connection. I always connect at 48k, and I can download between 4-5 kb/s. I've been trying the last year for DSL, but it's simply not available in my area yet, and neither is cable. These stupid sales bastards call me to offer DSL or cable, only to find out it not available. You figure these idiots would only call the potentional customers that have the hardware in their areas.

@home is going to be hell for me. I can feel it coming. Systems that we bought that were @home when we got them had to stay @home and not be integrated into our network. Well if they pull the plug we are going to have to bring all those places into our network. We have had guys out in the systems adding gear and have all the IPs ready go to. It's been a mad rush to get things prepared in the short time available and you all know what happens when things are rushed... It's all California stuff that we have from what I can tell. I'll know more if/when I get the call and the fun and games begin... Here is the best part of the e-mail I got about it. I wonder how long I'll be able to go before telling someone to f*ck off.
this schedule does NOT include time for sleep or hunting down a key. If the decision comes down at 2200, then we start at 2201 and work straight through the night. If we start at 1600, then we work straight through the night as long as it takes.
This went out to all the engineers but I am the on-call engineer for this week. I have been up the past 3 nights and am already not a happy camper...

If @home ever eventually totally collapses, there will either be another one to take it's place or you can just get DSL as a substitute. I could never go back to dial-up 56k... :)
