What's best brand DDR Ram?

Post by Sean »

What is the most reccommended rame brand on the price/performance scale...best ratio?

I am looking at a Kingston for 44$ and Crucial for 46$ (including TAX...uggh)... Is crucial worth it? Should I spend the extra 10 on mushkin? What do you think? Also found Samsung for 42$....

between Kingston and Crucial, buy the Crucial, it's alot better. IF your going to overclock, buy the Mushkin, only if it's guaranteed to go 166+.

I've had good luck o/cing Crucial I had a few sticks of PC2100 that would do 150 MHz 2-2-2 all day long.

OTOH, this Samsung shite I have now won't do 2-2-2 at stock speeds :mad :

I am looking at some ECC DRR PC2100 Crucial ram at Anand....

Someone said buying ECC will work with non-ecc (my board supports it) but it will take away from performance, how much performance...

Sean, ECC ram checks for errors, that's what slows it down. How much? not sure, also, probably more resistant to overclocking. Only peeps running servers and stuff really need to use it, do yourself a favor and buy the regular Crucial stuff :)
