DVD Problem With Menus Shaking In Shrek...

Post by WeekendWarrior »

Hi Guys I just noticed that on our new DVD of SHREK that some of the menus are very shaky.
Like in the audio select mode...it is all shaking and jittery, but the whole movie plays fine.
Have any of you seen this before?
SHould I return it?
I only have a few dvds and my player is almost new Pioneer av 440
Thanks for any info

I've seen similar on some DVD's but as with you, the movies always play fine. If it's bad enough then I'd take it back for an exchange.

Thanks Blade....I was worried about the place I bought it from it was a flea market kind of deal and they were cheap....
I might take it back ...
I got Knights Tale from him too for my daughter and it plays fine.
btw does anyone know what the Transmission Rate on a dvd is ?
what do the numbers mean? Is it a good sign if they are higher or lower?
thanks

I think DVD's bit rate maxes out at 11 mbps. It is true that some DVD's are more compressed than others, but unless you have an HDTV, you probably cannot tell.

As to the shakey menus... well, I have Shrek and a 1 year old DVD player. It works fine, no jitters or anything on the menus. If the DVD set was suspiciously cheap, it is probably pirated (honk-kong version, you might say). If Shrek only came with 1 DVD, not 2, then it is definitely a shadey deal.

I would recommend returning it if you think it is pirated. If the guy is still there, that is. Knowingly selling copies of copyrighted works carries a pretty stiff penalty in the US.
