yeah, TEAC drives are pretty good. I'd also look at the Lite-on 24x writer for around 160, just keep in mind there are 2 versions of the Lite-on, an A and a B. The B's the good one.
Burnproof is basically a mechanism that stops the CD from burning when the buffer is empty, otherwise known as a buffer underrun. In previous CD-RW's, this caused a bad burn, and therefore a coaster. Burnproof stops the CD-R, saves the spot in memory, waits till the buffer fillls up, then creates a link from where it stopped to the new starting place. Thereby eliminating buffer underruns, and reducing coasters.

or if u wanna save some money, i'd get an LG 16x10x40
its about 120, u lose a bit of speed, but 5 minutes for a 700 meg cd is still pretty good
its what i m using now, and i havent made a single coaster with it yet. It also burns about pretty much everything, and the burnproof is hardware implemented. Meaning its controlled by the CD-R, so the software doesnt have to support the feature for it to work.
just make sure u get the right model. There's 2, one sold in NA, and one sold in Europe. The one sold here is the...GCE-8160B or something, and thats the good one.
