Why does my computer resets itself when overclocked

My CPU is INTEL III 1.0gh@1.2Ghz when i reach 1.2ghz or higher my computer resets itself or gives me error on programs. I am running WINDOWS XP PROFFESIONAL. My temps are 28 Celsius and 87 Degreess faranheit.

Could just be that it won't run stable that high. Have you tried uping the vcore at all?

Could be the Core voltage, could be there is an updated bios you need. could be that chip just wont do it.

should be able to up the voltage in that bios.

what does the core voltage do to increase FSB speed?

it gives the CPU extra power to run at higher speeds.

Core voltage does not change the FSB but it does give the CPU more juice to keep up with the increase to the FSB. Lots of times it make the difference in a system being stable or not. Just be carefull don't raise it too much and keep a close eye on temps.

yup my curent tempature are since i increase voltage is 28C is this okay should i continue to crank it up
increase voltage of core by .10 higher current voltage or core is 1.80

If it is stable there leave it alone. I wouldn't go any higher than 1.90 and if you don't need to don't. You temps are ok but you really need to check them under full load. Run SETI or something like it and check temp under a load. Anything under 40c for a P3 is good

i ran seti for an hour at full load and other programs and my temp was 33C
