WOWZA !! Go clean your filters now !!!

Post by Kazer »

I just cleaned my cases front filter and boy did it make a big difference in my temps. I advise everyone to clean out filters and fans often.

Before Cleaning:
Idle: 49C CPU
30C System

Full Load: 53C CPU
33C System

After Cleaning:
Idle: 42C CPU (7C drop)
26C System (4C drop)

Full Load: 48C CPU (5C drop)
27C System (6C drop)

I have a Millenium Glaciator heatsink cooling my cpu. I'd like to get an SK6 or the new Alpha PAL 8045 with a 60 x 38 Delta fan to cool down my cpu.

I have 2x 120mm fans in the front of the case for intake, 2x 92mm fans in the back for exhaust.

A Thermaltake Blue Orb on my mobo's northbridge chip.

Thermaltake memory heatsinks for my 2 sticks of Crucial SDRAM.

A Just Cooler TT900 Bay Cooler in one of my 5 1/2 bays.

2x CAF12 120mm Slot card fans to cool down my AGP and PCI slots.

3x Twin Fan Drive coolers for my 3x IBM harddrives.

And of course my Enermax power supply exhausts air as well with it's 2 fans inside.

I would makes some holes on the side and top of my case to add fans but I'm not too good with handy work.

I use an air filter in the computer room

Get a cheap air filter in the computer room like panasonic or something and just let it run all the time. I get barely any dust in here and I smoke two packs a day ;)

Shop vac on blow & a trim brush!

Post by blackhawk »

My recipe for airflow=cooling.

Take the box outside and blow the fans out. Block the fans from spinning with a straw or toothpick and loosen the dust with the brush. Cleanliness & godliness you know!
