Only one word, AWESOME. I can't wait for this to start. Hopefully however Scott Bakula does a better job in this then he did in Quantum Leap.

schola :)

Yeah no kidding. I saw that Scott Backula was going to be the captain and was thinking, "Ok, that's an odd choice." That just strikes me as wierd. He looks like a dork on the cover of that issue too. ;)

I am pretty excited about this one also, as far as Scott Bakula I really enjoyed Quantum Leap, and if you think that is the only type character he plays check out The Lord of Illusions. That one looks like it came straight outta the head of HP Lovecraft.

LOL.... I'm on a wait and see attitude on this one. I'm glad there is going to be another star trek series... I'm just hoping its not going to suck.

After the last two it can't possibly get much worse. :) I'm just glad it's actually back to the Enterprise. And I'm glad to see any captian besides that annoying goat Janeway. I swear, her and Judge Judy should be banned from TV.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like some cool retro/industrial design. Anyone notice the high tech fan grills on the top of the console?

I really loved ST:TNG but Voyager and DS9 didn't really hold my interest for very long. Here's hoping this one is good...

I hope Q makes some appearences of the show. He has been one of my favorite characters from the ST:TNG series. Did anyone catch the episode on Voyager where he had a son and Janeway was supposed to train him? Q looked so old and he is losing a lot of hair. They need to make him look younger if they are going to make him play the part of Q again.

OH CR@P!!! Is that a friggin' STEERING WHEEL on the Nav station?!!!!!! PLEEEASSSE say it's not true!!!!

Which reminds me of the single funniest thing I ever saw in Star Trek - the Next Gen movie (last one I think) where an OBVIOUSLY CHEAP PC-TYPE joystick pops out of the captain's chair armrest and Riker flies the ship on manual. Oh please! When they've already shown in the series that the helm can be operated manually via a keypad (episode when Picard flies the ship on thrusters only out of a dampening field).

Scott Backula comes off as an indecisive dork in almost every role he's in - I have a hard time picturing his character filling the shoes of the likes of Picard, Kirk and Cisco. Hope I'm wrong.

I also expect, as with all Star Trek series, that the first season will be rather bad until they develop the characters and feel comfortable with the universe they create. Even Next Gen was real stilted the first season.

I'm hesitant about the ability of writing good scripts with the restrictions of an earlier Star Trek universe. The other series have already explored so many concepts, and it seems by doing a prequel they're only restricting their story line options.

We'll see.

it took years before they made the storylines interesting enough to watch again. and just as they got interesting... the shows ended. bah...

Yup, the last couple of seasons of Voyager were good (mostly). Actually, I like nearly all of the voyagers once they got rid of Kess (sp?). She and Neelix (sp?) were horribly annoying to watch together.

The last DS9's got better, too. Once they started the Dominion wars and all that, it got more interesting.

Who is that chick in the pictures? You can see her hip bone protruding in the first picture. She looks like a boy who got breast implants or something. blech.

Uhh, it's true :)

The article there says that the ship was given a distinct submarine feel. Since modern subs have "steering wheels" as well, that makes perfect sense to me.

And I agree with Poop here. Voyager and DS9 both got really good the last few seasons of each, especially DS9 with the Dominion War storyline. That really charged up the series. Same with Voyager. Later seasons got much more interesting than the first 2 or 3.
