That's still pretty vague man. Explain.
You formatted the drive, then you installed Windows, right?
Which version of Windows?
Windows isn't detecting all your devices now after it installed, right?
What didn't it detect? Some devices require you to run an installation program first (some video cards for instance aren't detected until you install the software).
Also, check your Device Manager - do you have any "Other Devices". These are generally devices that didn't install properly. Remove any Other devices to allow Windows to redect them.
Also try running the Add/Remove Hardware wizard. Sometimes Windows misses something on the initial install.
Other than that, give us details on which devices aren't being detected.

My apologizes for the vague blurbs...
I was just so frustrated and even depressed that I was having so much trouble with something I thought was in my window of experience, I had done this about a year ago with no problems.
Just to catch up:
The OS is 98se.
I toggled plug and play off and on in BIOS...still not sure which is correct.
Windows never did detect any of my cards. Windows would freeze on shutdown. Luckily I remembered reading here once if you have a open network card that it could cause problems. Everytime I tried to disable or remove in Device Manager Windows would lockup...pulled the card and problem solved.
Took a shot in the dark on the sound card. In Device Manager I had a yellow mark under sound on pci multimedia something... hit update driver and pointed to the latest drivers I had downloaded for my sound card and there it is. Before this I had installed the application cd and even pulled the card without Windows asking for the drivers.
Basiclly did the same thing for the video card.
Pulled the DSL card and installed the software first...it went the way it's supposed to.
I have ran scandisk and defrag and here I sit...feeling much better now.
Thanks so much for the replies,
greg
