Need help installing firmware

Post by Silver Bullet »

I need to install the firmware for my DVD player but don't anything about DOS. The problem is I can't seem to run NASCAR4, this is kind of a known problem. I wrote to the maker of N4 and of course they said to update all drivers...of course, but I usually do, untill it came to my DVD player (Aopen 1640 Pro) and I'm totally lost.

Here is the link of what it says to do, if you can help or direct me to a site that can help I would be so grateful.

First make sure you have a win 9x boot disk.

Download the file and extract the contents to a folder.

Shut your computer down, and make sure your DVD-ROM is connected to the secondary IDE channel and the jumper is set to master.

Boot your computer with the win 9x disk.

Change to the folder where you extracted the flash bios, and run the utility :)

Ok...I have the first 4 things you mentioned, but I really, really don't know anything about DOS, in other words I don't know how to change to the folder where I extracted the flash bios.

The folder is C:\dvd help

On the DOS screen is A:\>

How do I get from one to the other?

thanks again,
greg

Thanks bitSLAP... everything went smooth. Is there a website to help me learn DOS or do I have to take a computer class. I'm 43 and didn't start this until I was 40 and really hate to go back to school...now.
