I wouldn't install them on Win 2000. After installing them whenever I pressed both mouse buttons at once it would act like nothing happened, and then spaz out (clicking the left button by itself) for a random amount of time (usually 8-15 seconds).

I had to spend 30min carefully running around the registry deleting Logitech keys after removing Mouseware from add/remove programs to fix it.

If you're wondering how I mananged to hit both buttons at once, it was in Quake 3. The problem lies within the drivers not Quake 3 though. They work fine in Win 98SE...strange.

I found about a dozen other people with a similiar setup encountering the same exact problem.

I don't recommend the Mouseware or the Intellimouse utilities. Except for legacy wheel support there's nothing in those utiltiies you really need, and in my experience there's always something that has a conflict with them.

Haven't had problems with the dirvers yet. Just did a fresh install of W2K and isntalled them. My mouse used to shake and jitter on the screen, very annoying. Now it's gone.

If I didn't install the mouse drivers I would have 2 useless extra buttons. I click on the thumb button to double click and the wheel button to minimize all, comes in handy.

I also found that mouseware screwes up the mouse in fps games in win2k... so i stopped using it, and i don't miss it

I don't knwo about Logitech, but I don't need the Intellimouse software to use the extra buttons on my Explorer Optical.

I didn't say don't install the driver, just don't install the Mouseware utility. You can uninstall the utility and the driver will stay.

And to scroll in aim.... ok, that's not a big issue but its still annoying

I'm gunna give it a shot soon... i completely forgot to download it.. heh
