BH6!!!

Post by Cryo »

I have 2 BH6 boards, one running the classic celeron300a@550 and the other running a celeron 366@458. :-) I've had the 366 setup for about 2 years now, although it's only been o/c for about a little over a year. The 300 setup I just made about a month ago to use as a temp server. At the moment. I am putting SERIOUS thought into selling them both off and going with a 1.2GHz T-Bird DDR system. I am staying with ABit for mobo's though, just cuz they are the only boards that I have had that have NEVER crapped out.

Splitfire,
The BH6 does not support 256 meg sticks (according to their site). The max memory is 384. How did you get yours to work with 256 meg sticks???

5 years - dfi g586ipc, p150@166, 80mb edo (other specs are in my profile). running win98fe even :D it had a cyrix pr133+ (110mhz) and 16mb edo up until a few weeks ago. the cyrix was unstable as hell and couldnt handle more than 16mb of ram without crashing every 5 minutes. its been running beautifully since the processor swap, even with the extra 64mb that the cyrix hated with a passion.

currently in the process of building a new beast.
there are two loves in my life: fast computers and faster cars.

Executioner,

From what I understand you can use 256MB and even 512MB sticks in the BH6. I guess part of the bios upgrades involved some memory managment stuff that they didnt really talk about and don't officially support. The guy who owned my second BH6 before I got it said that he also got 2x256MB PC133 sticks to work in slots 1 and 2 but upon adding a 3rd stick the system would freeze up. He also claimed that he managed to get a single 512MB stick into slot 1, but again any further memory would cause a lock. I don't know what the validity of these claims are and I've never had the resources to test it myself. At the moment I am running 3x128 PC133 and 2x64 PC100 in my boards.

I slapped in a 256 meg stick of pc100, and it works fine in the BH6. I doubt I'll put any more into it, as I'm running Win98 and any more that 256 is a waste.
