That's BS!!That's how I got started, you ship first until you earn the respect of everyone else, then you cross-ship!!
I'll cross-shop with ya anyday, I believe I have several times, but anyhow I won't cross-ship unless I've traded with ya or you have alot of heatwares!!If I have any doubt's I ask around around!!Blades helped me out a few times with members over here, because mainly I trade at Anands, but here lately have been slowly migrating over this way ;) I like Anands, but alot of trolling lately :( You guys over here seem like a really close-knit bunch of traders!!

If someone agrees to cross-ship, then holds the part til i send, they get a negative eval. I don't care if they ship it late (unless there is some unforeseen circumstance) and i get it or not, i don't like being lied to. Too often i see someone start a troll thread, only to have 5 more people step up and say they've had problems with so and so in the past, yet that person has a spotless, even glowing heatware.

With unknown traders or traders, i make them ship first as well, or no deal. Most of us have enough evals now to ask that of new traders. If they don't want to sell to me based on that, i wish them luck and move on.

cross shipping is cool depending on who it is,.i look at the post count of the person im trading with if im shipping first. the paypal thing is instantaeous so if someone says they are gonna paypal me i check my mail before i ship. the one thing that makes me most nervous of all is the MO. I hate the thought of shipping based on the word of a stranger that the check is in the mail. it is probably an irrational fear but i dont like them. those and pears, cant stand em :-p

I have no trouble with traders like this. I just politely say "No deal" and move on. The attitude of a lot of traders baffles me. It's fine to NOT trade with people...why tell them off? Who are WE to tell them how handle their business? They haven't the right to set their own standards? Sure they have...but we don't have to deal with them. It's arrogance of "experienced" traders who think they have "rights" but, in fact, we all have our own set of rights. Look at many of those who have been burned. They were either too nice and trusting or too fast to try to get a "great deal" or move something. The unfortunate reality is no matter what you do you can get burned...even by "good traders", so all have the right to set their standards for trading. THEY live by them...not me I live by MINE. Damned if they aren't ALL somewhat different.

Stevem.

I only "tell off" traders who are persistant after my polite decline or those who
are crude to the point of being offensive.

Being female I've found that the vast majority of men trading are really wonderful, excellent people all around, unfortunately there's the few that thing because I'm a woman that I'm stupid, don't know my prices and am easy prey to be cheated.Sadly,I've noticed a real increase in the latter group lately

Actually I'm getting somewhat picky about who I deal with. I feel sorry for anyone who feels that their trading gets harassing. That's not fun at all. Some of the best deals I made are probably some of the ones I never made. I made a mistake of dealing with one flake and it was a very unpleasant experience...but I learned from it.

I have to chime in as well. Fortunately, most of the time, newbies agree to ship first if I ask them to and everything goes smoothly. I've done many deals with newbies, but ONLY IF they ship first. Sometimes I encounter problems with cross-shipping, but I just tell them off and move on. I've been screwed over only by JasonR (grr) and another one that was the toughest to take for $2,000. I think this community is the best out there, hopefully it will stay that way for a long time to come :)

I just had the same experience, some guy wanted to cross ship payment for an item on my thread.
I asked for refs, I have only 11 evals, but I had more than him. I think the person with fewer refs should ship first... He had only 5 refs under a different name.
He told me that he never heard of such a thing in 4 years of trading and doesnt agree to it.
I just said sorry it didnt work out and moved on...

I'd have to agree with you folks. With 178 positives and no neutrals or negatives, it does kinda irk me when someone with less than 5 HeatWares wants me to ship first! I started out like the majority of you folks. I shipped first until I built up a sufficient number of evals to where the "senior" or more experienced folks didn't feel a need for me to ship first. It's got to the point whenever I ask a newbie to ship first and they refuse, I just say "sorry we couldn't work a deal. Thanks anyway." They'll learn. The rest of us had to pay our dues. As far as the rash of supposed troll alerts and warnings, and Baffled remembers this crap - a lot of the newer folks have got to be 12 or 13 year olds! At least they act like it sometimes. Folks are over there screaming troll without giving the other guy even 24 hours to respond to an e-mail or PM! Sheesh boy! Get a life! And while you're at it brush up on some of the common sense and decency that I'm sure your parents taught you but you so quickly forgot! Whew, that feels better! Thanks for the opportunity to vent amongst like-minded individuals! Take care folks!

This is why I do my trading with a choice few now. The online trading community has gone to hell in the last 14 months. There are very few that I do anything with now and even then it is kept off the boards as much as possible. You know who you are and I Thank you....it is no longer fun to wheel and deal like to ole days of not too long ago. The thiefs have found our community and you have to give them credit...they find better and better ways to scam....find your trusted few and stick with them or sooner or later you will get stuck yourself.............There was a time in this when it taken for granted almost that a mans keystroke was as good as his handshake, but no more....Good luck to all,,,,,,,,,,

That's what makes this forum much better than A-tech. Small community, all good traders. Plus, blade watching our backs...what more could you ask for?
