Napster is out.. what's in?

Post by The Scud »

I tried LimeWire but there's a big difference in downloading speed, so what every body is using that compare to napster in speed and content?

LimeWire looks cool and it could have a future if it were just FASTER!! Sheesh, its soo slow. I use AudioGnome right now. You can find just about any song, just like you could with napster. I find I get a lot of "remotely queued" or whatever it is, and the speed doesn't seem as constantly good as napster, but you can find the songs and get them in a reasonable amount of time, so I'm stickin' with it.

I've been having great results with DC lately...but then again, I'm looking for movies. (it's REALLY improved)

Edit to add: Morpheus is also quite good...tho I'm going to get the Kazaa client and just edit the default search max bitrate of 128 cuz that just sucks.

I saw LimeWire uses Gnutella, which explains why you have alot of files you can download, just it takes forever to get 'em. (Actually, another mind-less, ignorant, selfish co-worker installed it on a WORK machine and when the IT guy found out, he turned off all internet until he could narrow down who it was. Which sucked since I was trying to fold, but lost access to get more WU due to that....[Yes I have stupid co-workers, one trying to surf for pr0n at work and another trying to download MP3s]. At least the IT guy said that I can keep folding since it not only uses next to no access per day, it's not hurting anyone in doing so.)

There's not enough programs out there that you can use that is fast enough or that doesn't have spyware. Just have to keep looking.

Thank you Miss Stacy gal :)

Actually since the demise of napster I never tried anything else because all I heard was bad about the others.

blade, there is also good ole trusty FTP....if you find a good source...and of course sharing among ourselves....I have tons of mp3's (quality of stuff gotten during the Nappy panic was never checked, many 128 bits but in the past few months most of the complete albums I have are 192's and at the very least 160's...a few vbr's and one or two lqt's...tho I know Sloops is the lqt king...and MIA, btw. *stace is worried about him) :(
