Funny question...
that would be Tgz - Tera hertz
I dont think it will happen in our life time though
Could you imagine 799 billion transistors on a .02 micron die, lol

I think we will see it in our lifetime. We went from 486-1.3ghz in only what, 10 years or so? Now chip manufacturers are giving us 100mhz increments every month it seems. With technology advancing that rapidly, I think we'll see the "terahertz" barrier before us young puppies are pushing up daisies....Later
I still say it wont happen for a couple of reasons
like all other technology things pan off once the max is achieved and everything else after that is really extras - e.g. humans can only hear 16bit 44.1khz, yet companies still make 24bit and 32bit equipment, why? unless you are some audiophile, you cant really hear the difference between 16bit, 24bit and 32bit audio - theres no real need for it.
right now there is no real driving force for computing except for 3D applications, games, intensive number crunching.
a person using MS word on PIII 450, would react the same on a P4 1.3. to that person, there is no need for the extra horse power.
the same will eventually happen to video cards in a decade or so, once someone developes a 3d engine/video card capable of complete effect of realism in all aspects and becomes the standard, what would be the goal after? kit it with HDTV GTS Ultra with MTM ver2.4(mental telepathy modules) built in, lol
'Computer! Get me a beer!' Damn, still doesnt work

I can definitly imagine it happening, but new technologoy which will be superior to the CPU will come out or some sh*t. I don't think we'll ever reach it for that one reason; something new and better will come out which will make todays CPU a lost idea.

we won't get that high
people will realize that that high speed number isn't everything
a 100mhz computer could beat a 1.5 ghz computer.
If you run more stuff per clock cycle and all that good stuff cpus would be better... but the lower the stuff per cycle to get that nice big number.
As we all know 5 nickles is better than 1 dollar... cus 5 is more than 1.

I've been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...
