Florida politicians say they’re trying to eliminate property taxes, but they’ve introduced 13 different bills, and none of them actually get the job done.
This isn’t tax relief. It’s a trap. And I’ll show you how they’re setting it up to fail on purpose.

I don't have a problem with property tax, but it should be a one time payment and not yearly. I pay almost $10k/year, and it goes up every year. I also understand that without it as you mentioned FP, that every town, city, and state would be bankrupt.

That's how the county I live in Georgia is. Seniors are excluded from the school portion of our property taxes which is like 60-65% of our property taxes.

i pay about $500. per year homesteaded on are small condo . not to change the point of this but what really needed is improvement in the car and home Insurance rates were charged . both michigan and florida are no - fault auto insurance states and florida about twice as high or more then michigan . if they crack down on uninsured and unlicensed drivers it really help everyone .also this u turn rule is crazy were you be in the left turn lane at a light.and instead of making a left turn . your allowed to make a u-turn this i sure has added to a lot of people walking across a intersection get hit by drivers not paying enough attention. or not seeing the person do to a blind spot by the front pillar of there car. there a lot of other things crazy here in florida while driving you see its crazy . when we stayed in clearwater you had telephone pole installed in line of site he turning onto 60 . i was like who idea was this planning.

The bottom line is governments NEVER have enough funds. I also never see any government departments looking to improve efficiencies to reduce costs. In the private sector when I was working, each department had to show some reductions in spending , usually on improving efficiencies. I was disappointed on DOGE that they never touched the Pentagon.

Well, honestly I'd be fine with removing the property tax for primary residences or bumping up the homestead exception.
There's another video where they discuss just how wasteful the counties are, with our tax money. In the South, the big 3 have these pet projects and other nonsense that should NOT be funded with my property taxes.
I say make them learn to balance the budget and only spend it on necessary things. Pretty much what we all have to do with our personal budgets.
