Dash-cam recommendations

I'm looking for recommendations on dash-cams. Any of you using them? If so, what make/model? Are you happy with it?

I'm tired of all the crap that happens, where I'm left wishing I had that on video. Too many stooopid people down here on the roads.

I have one, and use it daily due to stupid people as you mentioned. Since I take a train to work that is located nearby to a College, we have stupid college kids that don't obey traffic laws. So I have one that I use as soon as I get in my car to drive home. If one of these clowns hits my car, I'll have proof that it was not my fault. A as you know with the not my fault generation, it will be your fault because you have the car, and it's your word against their word.

A good example of why I got one, when I had my Corvette a few years back, one of the forum users posted a video showing why he bought one. He was parked on the side of the road looking at a map and not moving. Guess what hit him? An idiot on a bike that was not paying attention.

The one that I have records front view only, but they do make that record your rear view as well. I would suggest getting one of those. Just go to Amazon and look at the reviews. Mine is okay, but I would probably not recommend it. I've had to manually adjust the time stamp on it after a few weeks (i.e. it loses calendar years and day). If you want to know the make, I'll have to report back when I get back in my car.

There was a positive review of one listed at ARS, H, or Blues within the last week. It was different because it had a better filed of view.

I have the battery version and it's been a good camera. I've had it for two years. It's very tiny and I have it mounted just under my Rear View Mirror. You'll need to buy a 32GB (max capacity) card class 10. That will hold 4 hours of video at 1080.

This is a video I captured of me hitting a Deer. The actual quality is much better than the youtube video. The video below was compressed when I cut it with handbrake and then compressed again by youtube.

An A118 is probably considered the best at it's price range, just make sure it's an official A118 and not some cheap Chinese knockoff.

On the higher end, BlackVue is one brand I've been looking at for a while. Just haven't pulled the trigger.

Appreciate all the info. Looking at the A118 actually pointed me in the direction of the A119, which is the newer, current, improved version of the A118.
The reviews by some of the dash-cam guys is that it's a great model for the price, compared to some more expensive units. Support is solid too.
I ordered that ($89) with the optional GPS feature ($10) & a 64GB card.

That looks like a nice camera. My A118 came with a super long cord that allowed me to run it under the trim back to a switched outlet.

One thing I neglect is taking the card out every once in a while to make sure it's still recording. The slot is spring loaded so be careful removing it as it may launch out.

My A118 is dying. The battery is dead so it will not save the last recording without corrupting it. Battery replacement looks simple enough but the battery itself is tricky to obtain. The recordings that the unit is saving also contain massive static in the audio with a periodic beep followed by clear audio for a few seconds. The it goes back to static.

I'm thinking about the A118C (capacitor version, no battery). The A119 is a bit nicer but I don't want the GPS logging.

I have the A119 and I'm liking it a lot.
If you don't want GPS logging then you simply don't mount it with the GPS unit. It's just a base that adds a half inch to the overall height. They have non-GPS versions on Amazon.
