Westworld discussion - SPOILERS!!!

Post by FlyingPenguin »

I've been listening to the awesome Ars Decrypted podcast, and they've been analyzing the Westworld episodes as they're released. These people are picking out all kinds of interesting things that I've missed.

One of them I completely missed was the Delos globe in the cold storage level. If you remember, Delos was the company that owned Westworld and FutureWorld in the two movies.

Some sub-reddit discussions are also hypothesizing that Westworld may be on another planet because the continents don't look like earth on that globe, and (something I also noticed that I thought was odd) Bernard mentions in a call to his wife that it's hard to get an open line out of the park. With future tech why would that be a problem unless it's not located on Earth?

In that same scene, after the globe, Ford is found talking to an old model moth-balled robot, and the robot has the telltale from the original movies that out him as a robot: his hands don't look human.

Lot's of interesting observations.

I have been traveling so much lately, that I haven't seen it yet, and have tons to catch up on whenever I get back home. But finding time when hubby & I are both available to view it on demand is another matter,,,

Are you enjoying it so far?

Yeah. I like it a lot. It's deep and gritty with several story arcs and many mysteries. The writing is very good but I think there's so much going on that you really need to follow some of the sub-reddit discussions, or if like me you have no patience for that, listen to the Ars Decrypted podcast to keep up. It's only 30 minutes and I listen to it in the car at 1.5x speed.

Anyone notice in Episode 4 that the moon seems to have major infrastructure There's white lines all over both poles.

I can't wait to talk to someone about this show. Last episode was a huge shakeup in several story arcs.

The show has that same OMG gritty feel of the first season of BSG.

I would strongly recommed listening to the Ars Decrypted podcast after each episode. There is SO much subtlty to this show it's easy to miss something.

Little Easter eggs like this one is why I love the show. Another wonderful homage to the original movie.

BTW: There was a BIG reveal in the last episode (EP 7). DO NOT let anyone spoil it for you. It's a good time to start binge watching now so you don't hear or read about any spoilers in the coming weeks before you can enjoy it yourself.

I have a lot of hunches. My hunch on Bernard has been proven correct.
