I've been reading lots of comments around the web, and one theme I really agree with is wtf! on the total lack of specs for something at this price level. Seriously.
We may have to wait until all the various VR systems roll out and then wait for the pron lords to decide which one they like best.

I saw that today too. I don't get why you'd need augmented reality for Word or e-mail. I also read that MS's Halolens has the FOV of a 15" monitor 2 feet away. Not being able to just plug them in is a stupid decision in my opinion. I don't think people will just be wearing these around all the time.wvjohn wrote:apparently the 5 hour battery time they were pitching was for email or word. using a 3k headset for word????
I really see VR for gaming being a niche market. Cost and motion sickness will limit it's use. I really think VR will thrive in general entertainment. VR for PPV live events would be awesome if they can sort out streaming issues. It would be awesome to be in the front row for a concert, on the field for a NFL game, or in the pits for a race.
Augmented reality is best suited for industry and medicine in my opinion. You could have assembly line workers wearing the devices when putting together components to track the serial numbers of the items and to make sure the worker isn't making a mistake by showing them where the part goes. In medicine the application could be similar to make sure the correct drug and dosage goes to the correct patient and for doctors to reference when performing complex procedures.
