Im not restoring this bird, so Im simplifying the interior! Replacement rear panels are in the $200 range and thats just not viable to me when I can DIY..
Nice Job on the panel. You should be able to do the same thing with the doors although it's going to take a bit more time. Don't forget to put some of your sound deadening material behind those too.
Thanks for the update. It's really fun to see it all come together.
Well transmission is in. What a pita! Had to unbolt both headers and I forgot to start the cooler lines before I mated it up to the block...needed chop sticks to get them started....
Now just need to get the drive shaft shortened, 10qts of fluid, and get the shifter linkage sorted out. 700 has an extra detent given OD so trying to graft the original shift cable bracket to the pan rail has turned into quite the challenge. I modified the shifter assembly in the car for extra throw but now I have to figure out how to get the ratio right on the arm on the transmission. if it turns into too much of a pita, I'll just order B&M pro stick and be done with....Broke the dang shift cable last night screwing around with the shifter so off to Autozone I go....
Well autozone didnt have a cable like they said....so I found a poh-dunk auto parts store that had one and it was cheaper! Took the drive shaft in to have it cut for $85 bux which turned into $200 real quick when I found out the input yoke was not correct for the shaft, the tube had a dent in it, and both Ujoints were installed improperly previously rending them useless. so they built a shaft from scratch with new joints and bam...fits like a glove. Was able to drill new mounting holes in the cable bracket and it all works like it was meant to be in the car. Drove the car last night and damn....the convert stalls as advertised. Most usually stall 300-800rpms less than they say (unless you have a monster big block in front of them) but this one stalls at 3400rpm and couples at 3500-3550rpm and when it couples all hell breaks loose and the car gets sideways or shoots off like a rocket! All in all Im pretty happy with the transmission! Just need to wire up the lockup circuit to the brake switch and it will be ready for some highway speeds.
Dang, you're making some quick progress. I need to invest in a driveshaft soon as well. Going to be custom due to my complete transmission change-over and removal of the slip-yoke.
Yeah im so close to having it road worthy. I need to do upper ball joints, pitman arm, and pick up the parts to get the Ebrake working. The license plate lamp went MIA so another set back lol.
The alignment is so outta whack right now lol. front tires are like this \\ //
Got bored and pulled the buffer out of the tool box...old paint shined up nice lol. Minus the red primer after welding a round plate over the antenna hole in the fender. With technology these days, bluetooth and what not, all the speakers and radio have been deleted from this car. Just a small blue tooth speaker and my galaxy note to make tunes.
