Facebook's SSD findings: Failure, fatigue and the data center

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Keep in mind, this study was based on SSDs used in Facebook's data center. Not the same workload a consumer SSD would go through. Still, there's a lot of interesting takeaways. The heat issue is really interesting. Seems like SSDs are much more sensitive to temperature than hard drives.

SSDs revolutionized data storage, even though we know little about how well they work. Now researchers at Facebook and Carnegie-Mellon share millions of hours of SSD experience
