Killing Floor 2 Early Access

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Think I'm going to pull the trigger on this. I had lots of fun playing the original.

Gameplay looks great, even though it's a beta. Early Access on Steam is $29.99

Okay, even though the game is supposedly in Beta, it's fully complete and functional. There are no obvious bugs I've found yet. It is limited in the number of levels, perks, weapons, and customizations for your character. They want input from the community on how to proceed with what they are adding. There's also only one game mode (survival) and a limited number of maps.

It uses the latest Unreal engine and the graphics are great. LOTS of gore. Configuration menus are logically laid out. Keyboard customization is easy and flexible. Unlike some games they include an FOV slider.

Weapons physics are great. Reminiscent of the original game, but feels much better. The new store kiosk is much more logically laid out than the old store.

Only played a few solo games so far to get the feel for it, but liking it so far.

Playing multiplayer today. Gameplay is great.

On my GTX 980 I'm getting 110 fps on the HIGH quality setting. I tried ULTRA and I get around 60fps. Staying on HIGH. I don't see much difference and I prefer to have the extra frames in multiplayer.

This is interesting:

Killing Floor 2 EULA threatens to revoke licenses for trolls
http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2015/04/k ... or-trolls/
Tripwire Vice President Alan Wilson waded into the argument himself in his own Steam Community thread, suggesting that this game-revoking power will be reserved for the worst, most serial offenders. "[The EULA clause] is there so that, if at some point in the future, some individual gets utterly out of control and is being abusive to enough thousands of people to come to our attention - we can actually take action," Wilson writes. "People are worried that we can "take your game away". Well, yes, we can. We've sold around 10 million games over the last 10 years," Wilson writes. "We have, I believe, taken away games from about 2 people. One of those was later convicted as a hacker in court."

Really enjoying the game. Short of the limited number of maps you'd never know it's a beta.

I never liked the engine in the original game - movement always felt awkward. This game is smooth.

I don't remember if the medic class had any decent weapons in the first, but he has awesome weapons in this one, and the alternate fire is used to heal other players from a distance. No need to walk up close and inject them with health. Since no one wants to play as medic I usually do.

Nice thing is you can carry one of the medic guns as a secondary in another class. Even when I play as the Support class, I carry the medic SMG as a spare. You can still heal players with it although you don't get the healing bonuses you would as a medic.

Daman is thinking about getting it as well. Maybe we can get a party together one night.

I've beaten the boss on normal difficulty with only 3 people, but it's tough.

Picking it up tonight. I'm in for a game, it'll mess up my Forensics exam study but I could use a break.

Tuesday's and Thursday's usually work best for me.

Two new maps and classes coming this weekend. They're adding the Firebug and Demolitions class, each with a slew of new weapons and grenades. The Firebug was a lot of fun to play in the old game.

Anyone playing or want to play? My shotgun class is up to around level 20 so, and my medic is around 15.
