SOOOOO looking forward to this film. I hope they do it right.

Christopher Nolan, Peter Jackson, Robert Zemeckis, Matthew Vaughn and Edgar Wright are all said to be in the mix as a potential director of the film adaptation of Ernest Cline's sci-fi novel "Ready Player One".

The story follows a teenager named Wade Watts who becomes immersed in a virtual reality world known as Oasis which enables users to live out their dream lives. When the game's creator suddenly dies, Wade enters an elaborate treasure hunt, where the winner will take control of the entire company.

The teenager soon finds himself up against corporate entities who will do anything to take over the company. Various 1980s pop culture references feature heavily in the work and are expected to be carried over to the film.

Zemeckis is reportedly the one the studio wants to lock in as the story features a bunch of his past work and is probably the closest thing we'll get to a fourth "Back to the Future" film (the DeLorean is a big part of the action).

Zak Penn wrote the adapted screenplay.

Thats gonna be hard to do as a single film though. So much of the nostalgia elements are important to the feel of the story, and it will take time to do well.

I don't care if it takes more than one film. I just hope they do it justice.

Yeah, it would best benefit from 3 films like these other young adult adventure series lately, but I'm not sure that a geek movie would have the clout to get 2 or 3 movies.

Then again, that's basically what the Matrix was...
