The Hobbit: The Desoation off Smaug

Post by Err »

I went to see this last nigh. I enjoyed it but they've added so much to the original story that the third movie is going to be spent tying up loose ends. I'm not thrilled about a couple of the character they write in. I just didn't see the need to pad more into the story. I'm glad to see the expansion of what Gandolf was up to while the everyone else was in Mirkwood. The movie ends rather abruptly so we'll all be lining up next year to see the conclusion.

We were disappointment by this one. Seemed to drag on way too long in parts and should have had a better ending rather than left you knowing that now you have to wait a couple years (most likely) for part 2. Kinda ended like the old Batman TV show ('60s) when just as something was about to happen to Batman and Robin, it was "stay tuned, same Bat time, same Bat channel" but with this movie, it was after almost 3 hours of plot building.

The third movie will be out in December 2014 but I agree with the slowness of this series. It's very padded. On one hand I like it because I like being in Middle Earth but on the other hand I know that this story could've been told in about 4 to 5 hours tops.

I see aspects of The Silmarillion in the Hobbit Movie (like the King of the Wood Elves mentioning the White Stones) but I hope that they don't make a Silmarillion movie. I liked the book but it reads like the Old Testament of the Bible.
