xm radio pissed me off

Post by renovation »

first they turned the radio off do to no payment. my card I used to make payment was cancelled this year. fine they couldn't renew using the info they had on hand. now two to 3 weeks later its back on in my car. today I get a call on my cell saying if I want service it be $185.00 for a year. I tell them no I don't want it. I have a email in my mailbox saying for $95.00 a year I can have service.it been there for a couple of weeks now. then the girl saids it cost me $10.00 to turn it off and wants a credit card. I tell her turn it off and send me a bill via the usps. she saids we cant do that and said I need a credit card to bill me $10.00. it got to the point I just hung up on her. why should I pay $10.00 for a service. I didn't ask to be turned back on after they pulled the service from in the first place?

If I didn't spend 2 and a half hours driving everyday, I'd dropped my Sirius after the trial. I only listen to about 5 stations: Faction, Boneyard, the two classic rock stations, and the Metal station if Faction is playing crap. I'll put it on Stern every once in a while if he's interviewing someone good. He had Grahm Nash on last week. Excellent interview.

I think it's BS that if you have a subscription, you have to pay extra to use the internet service.

I dumped XM years ago. I had it when it first came out and back then, I discovered alot of new (to me) music and thus bought many CDs, then eventually MP3s. I now have more different music on my ipods than I'll ever hear on XM. When in new cars on test drives, I'll listen to XM but to me, the music selection isn't as good as it use to be.
At work I use Pandora as the IT guy doesn't care if we're using bandwidth for that. I can also use Pandora in my cars with my phone but I don't have unlimited data so I don't make a habit out of it.
Pandora is way better than XM/Serius anyday and a 1 year subscription is only $36 (unlimited time, no commercials).

With our new Honda we bought this year, it came with XM for 3 months. After the 3 months, they are bugging the crap out of me to renew. I haven't.
On the Corvette forum that I visit, there was a discussion about them. They said to renew, never use a CC as they want to auto-charge you, and then it takes an act of congress to have it stopped. Some suggested sending them a check instead.
I agree with Evil - Pandora is way better option.

I rent cars allot and used to enjoy satellite radio. But now just like HD TV they compress the shit out of everything and I can't stand listening to it.
