lol

i wonder what the file sizes will end up being. based on current cameras, they would be anywhere from 40-75MB per image at full res. i hope it has a lot of memory onboard!

The Hyetis Crossbow is a forthcoming Swiss-made smart watch outfitted with a 41 megapixel camera, LED flash, and WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC, according to the company. It will sell for $1,200.
Most people today don't even wear watches anymore and why would anyone want a camera built into a watch, especially for that price? Can't imagine it being a big seller.

You know, I constantly hear the "no one wears watches anymore" statement (on tech podcasts especially). I don't buy that. I see a LOT of people wearing watches - both young and old. Watches aren't dead. Some people wear them and some don't.

For me a watch is FAR MORE convenient than pulling my phone out of my pocket to check the time. A watch has also become jewelry in this day in age. Most of the time I wear a Casio G-Shock because it's easy to read, rugged, and reliable, and I often need to use the stopwatch.

When I dress up for dinner on the town or for something special, I have a pricey titanium Citizens Eco-Drive watch (birthday present from the wife) that I love because I rarely wear it, but it never runs down as long as it has some light shining on it.

In principle, I MIGHT be interested in a smart watch if someone like Google or Apple did it right. It would have to look good and not like ridiculous like this watch does, but if it would vibrate to let me know that I've received a call or SMS (I can't always hear or feel my phone when it's in my pocket), and display SMS messages, and maybe display some other relevant data from my phone then it might be worth it.

Recharging is the issue for me. I'm not going to plug in a phone into a charger so it had better use a charging mat, or else charge from sunlight like my Eco-Drive does.

Camera, unnecessary. But getting a watch linked to my phone... nice. I feel naked without a watch.

Sure, some still wear watches but I'm sure the #s have declined over the years since cell phones became common. Today when I go to department stores, the jewelry area with the watches has almost no one looking at them whereas years ago, I'd see more people there. A google search confirms that as well.
