Only issue Im worried about are the studs breaking coming out of the head

Not likely on a Toyota engine (never had it happen yet) but very common on old Volvo turbo engines. Drilling and heli-coiling the heads is no fun.

Thats good to know. Im probably going to swap it out tonight in my garage. My buddy with a drive on rack bailed on me....Ive been looking at the rest of the exhaust as well. There appears to be another cat further back (after the transmission). There is a megan kit or M2 kit that I may look into as well. Its all SS and Im betting the cat or resonator...or whatever the dang thing is, will be less restrictive over the stock one. Also, the mufflers on this car are HUGE! They have to weight 30+ pounds! I DO NOT WANT some loud *ss wannabe import car sound but wouldnt mind a little lower tone sound like the supra. I know without the turbos it will be different but figure just quieter. Literally, this car is freakin SILENT! Other than the engine running at 3k rpm, there is no exhaust sound lol.

Toss a CAI on it and with the new headers you'll probably notice a good bit of difference in the sound. My brother had one of those damned fart cans on his.. Hopefully you find something that gives you what you want :)

See those things make no sense to me. I mean, the factory air cleaner has a "ram air" scoop that sits directly in front of the grill. Seems this would be the most "cool" air the motor could get. A lot of people take the stock air cleaner out and put one of those chrome tubes with the big pancake filter. Seems the air under the hood in the engine compartment would be a heck of a lot hotter than cold forced air. Am I missunderstanding what you mean?

This is what I really want...

Usually the biggest increase in power comes from the decrease in turbulence between the entry point of the air and the throttle body.. But, you could just change the filter out to a K&N for better flow and even that would give you a little more rumble under the hood.

Too bad the throttle body is so bizzare on these cars. There is no aftermarket perf one due to all the weird gadgets incorporated on it....

I agree. Stock air cleaner boxes on modern EFI cars draw the air from outside the engine compartment and I highly doubt the CAI, K&N filter will improve anything. The only proof would be a before/after on a dyno.
As for K&N filters, they do allow more dirt to flow by and it's based on the assumption that your stock filter is restricting air flow and hampering performance. I've used K&N air filters myself and have never noticed anything different from using them.

This video is pretty good proof that CAIs actually do pretty much bupkus. Not entirely scientific, buuuut... pretty damning.

I guess it depends on the car.. The intake that I have on my car has been dyno proven (on more than a handful of cars) for an extra 10-12hp. But the one I have isn't an off the shelf CAI. It's a custom built one that a guy was making for a while there are probably less than 200 of them out there.. :)

Factory header weighs a ton (50+lbs)! The magnaflow is only 21lbs.

Heres a couple shots. No breakage on anything! Woot woot!.
