dell vostro pp37L with 3 know problems

the laptops running vista oem.(not counted as one of the problems ) hehehe

anyway here the list below.
1 st - wireless connects to my wireless router. shows a very good signal . but is not receiving or sending it shows limited connectitivy says speed of 54.0 mbp's ,packets sent of 145-300 .

2nd - after the laptops on for a while it come up with a clean white desktop screen . I have to hit the windows key to even have the start menu pop up.

3rd - not looked into yet but told the stop playing dvd movies on it .
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me. :help

Since these are all rather unrelated, I'd re-seat the RAM. I've seen dirty RAM contacts or poorly seated RAM cause a lot of flaky problems.

found out its a dell vostro a860 walmart special !
also found out the owner of ths laptop has been getting free internet by wireless and i guess it just stop one day working after the unit did a update the night before. did some checking and found one of the update for vista may of played havic with some hardware drivers for this computer !

guess who gets to do some long over due driver updates from dell !

I have seen the wireless issue on Vista laptops before. I had to normally go out searching for new drivers that would work. This issue would only occur when connecting to networks with encryption and not unsecured networks.

But ya, graphics drivers might alleviate the other issue too.
When all else fails, replace the user.

update , 3 hours of driver and microsoft updates all was well again . the owner was /should I say I was lucky . there was no virus or malware on the machine after doing updates and scans ! glad its back in the owners hands now.
