It appears that hes a bit bitter. I do admit that is definitely a stupid place to put that module. But I'm familiar with manufacturers putting stuff in stupid places.

just getting stuff out of your trunk in the middle of a heavy rain could let some water down and short that unit out bad design for sure.

Very true. Early Volvo 850s had the SRS control unit located below the center console, right below the cupholder and if the customer had liquid spill from the cupholder (happens), the $1000 SRS control unit was toast and not covered by warranty either. Later, they at least covered the unit with plastic so that liquid would run off to the sides.

That's just one example of many.

I have seen some dumb stuff but that is a good one. why would you put it there? did nobody think that when changing a tire that you could damage the cable when putting your flat tire back in there? Just sad that you can move it to the fender like he did.

pretty strange...almost like an afterthought and they just threw it in there. that, or they expect so many problems with it they made it super easy to get to. lol

It's bizarre they would put it there with that ridiculously long wire harness, when they could have easily tucked it in anywhere on the fender with the other devices there.

It's usually the opposite. When some part is easy to get to, it never fails whereas those that are buried fail all the time.
