my new rig's mobo supports this, so once up and running, i'll try to compare between standard 3.0 and 3.0 boost. 3.0 is plenty fast for what i use it for now anyway, but if it actually works, then it's a nice bonus.
New USB 3.0 Boost is an exclusive ASUS innovation that goes beyond original USB 3.0 speeds, delivering the latest UAS Protocol (UASP) on ASUS motherboards, and giving consumers up to 170 % faster data transfer performance as well as an accelerated Turbo Mode that supports all USB devices with the traditional BOT (Bulk Only Transfer) protocol.
Only works on devices that support UAS Protocol, which is limited right now. Don't see the point anyway. USB 3.0 (when properly implemented) is already FASTER than your average 3Gb/s SATA drive.
The exception is an SSD. But unless you're planning on doing data transfers from an internal SSD or fast RAID0 array, to an external USB 3.0 SSD, I can't see it making any difference.

i've played around with it on a few different devices. none of mine support the fastest protocol, but enabling "turbo mode" still adds a nice bump in speed. i get an additional 10-20MB/sec after enabling that.
