2012 Geneva Auto Show

Post by Lmandrake »

Went to this car show today. Immense. A lot of stuff that never makes it to the US market. Click on the thumbnails for larger images. Album is here - http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa100/Lmandrake67/Geneva%20Auto%20Show%202012/

Sigh, just makes me wish I had endless supplies of money. Some nice cars for sure.

Chances are that most of them don't make it to any market. Alas, I can't afford a car from the 2000's better yet a fancy new one.

What am I even looking at in that last picture?

That last picture is a concept car made from a Smart Car by a german engineering/tuning outfit called Rinspeed. The aft portion of the car, where the rearmost wheels are, is a detachable powertrain module. One module is an electric drivetrain, the other is a conventional gas drivetrain. At least that is how I remember it.

Lots of concept cars at this show, but also a lot of nice production cars from Skoda, Renault, Citroen, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot and other brands that don't come to the US. Lots of station wagons as Europeans never bought into SUVS as substitutes for wagons.
