went to build a charity build today. from all old scrap laying around .was i in for a shock looked all though my stash. only to find out not one cd rom in the stash to be found. guess im not building a give away. i had everything else old case ,old bio star m7ncd pro MB, 300 watt power supply, 256mb video card ,512 ram , old AMD 2500 cpu and heatsink with fan still on the mb ,even a 30 gig hd, just no CDrom.
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me. :help

Just a CD-ROM, I may have one. Seems like all the old ones I have tested defective though. The belts all go out on them & won't eject. I've got a couple SCSI ones that I'm pretty sure are still good though.

i haven't had an optical drive in a rig for quite a while...i just use usb sticks to load the OS and such.

I've tried to go optical-less, but I just couldn't do it. There's always a disc for something that I need eventually.
