Post by Koo Koo Mouse »

HI all,
Is HDMI out of my comp to an HDMI IN on my TV is easy is as that?
Found a 25 foot for $44.
Its a Dell Isperon 580 built in grapics with HDMI slot ( didn't even notice it) and my TV has a spare HDMI 3 port.

I't be nice to have on the TV sceen what I see on the comp but nothing is that easy. Or is it?

Damn would that be nice!

It usually is that easy. I've hooked a few up via HDMI and it is just plug it in and go.

Yup, the video is usually pretty easy. Audio can be sketchy, but I've had good success.

Video ... Plug and go
Audio ... You typically have to set auto out to HDMI once. From then on it should be plug and play.

$44? Monoprice is your friend. Even with shipping this is cheaper:

Less than $44? No, get the $1000 version so it becomes 3D HDTV 1080 right away, maybe get a few extras for the other TVs too at a deal like that ;)

$1000 is just for the 3.3 ft. version. Gotta shell out $7500 for the 25' version.

To note, when connecting a PC to a TV via HDMI, sometimes you have to do a little software adjustment. This isn't always the case, the display driver's utility should be able to handle the corrections.

I've had to manually adjust a couple of them, but you only need to set it up once, pretty easy to do. Might not even have to worry about it either.
When all else fails, replace the user.

You also occasionally run into audio issues. On a modern PC there's audio hardware on the video card and it usually takes over from the PC's sound card automatically when connected via HDMI but sometimes you have to fiddle with it.
