Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Just watched it. As good as the first, if not better.

Just watched it this weekend. Was pretty good. I haven't managed to watch the first one, but I was able to keep up pretty well.

First one has a very twisted plot if you like that sort of thing.

I will say that they don't really give you anything to work with on figuring out what's going to happen (or if they do, they do it so quickly that you can't keep up). Also, I didn't expect Sherlock Holmes to be an action hero. I just tried to chalk these things up to creative license.

It's a different take on Holmes, granted, although in the books he WAS a pugilist (amateur boxer).

Yeah it's an action flick for the modern era, but there is also some cerebral stuff in there. I think the first one had more of an intellectual plot. You really need to watch it on DVD (actually both of them are better watched on DVD) because there's a lot of subtle clues.

If you want classic Holmes, I still think Jeremy Brent played him best in the BBC TV series, although it was also considered very controversial at the time.

I do love the way Holmes and Watson play off each other in the modern movie.
