just a little wind and rain
in the eastern panhandle of WV - my dad was down on the delaware shore - after several days of nagging he agreed to go to a hotel inland last night - fortunately they were on the east side and it wasn't too bad - I still don't think he believes there was actually a hurricane...lol....told him there were pictures of tornado damage ~5 miles away and he said he hadn't heard about it (therefore it probably didn't happen)....a number of friends in NJ had to evac because of flooding...hope they can get back soon.

Please keep us informed on whats going on over there.
As for generators I bough a honda eu2000i For my nonpowered garage.
Heck ive went way over its limits for short times. 15 amp table saw cutting hard wood, stereo on and 8 4 foot flouresent lamps on. Even turned on an 8 amp vacuum for a short time with all that on and it did it. The thing is very quiet too and only runs as fast at it has to on econo mode. It cost double anything else but was worth it to me. Just a heads up.

oh, we knew SC would be ok before we left there, but would not have helped us getting into NYC, 'cause there would be nowhere to land today, which was date o' our pre-booked flight! { all 3 NYC airports are closed, btw! }.Shadow250 wrote:***
@ darcy you could have stayed in SC. it totally missed it.
staying there would have meant hoping hotel could accomodate us for several more days until travel resumed who knows when, along w/addtnl cost for same, addtnl cost for rental car, not to mention loss of hubby's salary for xtra days. so, in the end, was best we spent the xtra $ for new tickets on a different airline to get us home early.
over 21,000 in our immediate area are without power, but we are ok : ). haven't checked if a tree has fallen on our car yet, tho :-o.
my folks, who are 'bout 100 miles further north than us, are w/o power and w/o phone service. i had to call 1 o' their neighbors on their cell this morn, who drove down shortly thereafter to check on them. they are ok, and nothing smashed thru their house or windows; ~ just waiting to get power/phone service restored. told them to stay in the house and not wander around the property looking for downed trees until tomorrow.
{ i reckon this is one birthday my mom will not 4get! }

{ my folks got the power/phone back a little after 3pm : ) }

I ended up using a borrowed troy-built 5500W gas unit with a few 14GA extension cords. After about 3 hours of use the power came back on. I definitely want one now. I am in love with the Honda units but the prices are sooo steep. I will definitely shopping around and making a purchase soon. i don't want to be without power again. I think that the regular units are so0o damn loud but the heck with noise, I was happy to have power again.
I live out in the maryland suburbs now. In between Baltimore and
DC - closer to Baltimore really. I don't think there is a generator in stock in any store east of Morgantown...
Damn show-off neighbor and his generator really starting to piss me off....
We have almost half a million people without power in the DC Baltimore area... I think it is going to be a while before we have power again....

Like I said, the current Harbor Freight generators use Honda engines. Many people on other forums commenting about the fact that they can interchange parts between their Honda generators & their HF one. Now the rest of the generator's quality, I'm not sure about, but a bunch of the guys on the deal forums like them.
I looked at some generators online...wow..what a difference in Price! I looked th ee looks of the monster Dewalt ones
But have nowhere near that much money...some guy has a kawasaki 250 watt gen he found under his house on craigslist.....
