Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Surprisingly, it's getting excellent reviews and it's #1 in the box office right now with a bang up opening day.

I was going to toally write this one off, but now I'll have to put it on my list.

Good review here:

I'm amazed it's good after the first remake bombed.

Have to say that the original series pretty much sucked and that the concept was absurd.

The original with Charlton Heston is a CLASSIC. The rest sucked. Yeah there were holes in the plot, but that was an incredible movie for it's day and the surprise ending knocked everyone for a loop at the time.

I agree with FP. The first one back in what 1969 was a shocker. The one that Tim Burton did was okay. This one begins where Caesar is the first ape to have intelligence. Since I've seen the others, I'll probably see this one.

The Tim Burton one SUCKED except for Tim Roth's performance as the general. He was incredible, just a shame that performance was wasted on such a crappy production.

Saw it today and it was excellent. Great story line from start to finish. Special effects were 10. A must see flick.

Saw it today. OUTSTANDING MOVIE. 3 excellent plotlines that converge keeps it very interesting all the way through.

The CG work is very good, only looking cartoonish when the apes are moving fast.

The facial expressions on the apes - especially Cesar - are incredibly well done. It's the same technology they used for Avatar.

Highly recommend seeing it in the theater.
