Adobe Flash Update 4/15/11 patches serious security flaw

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Make sure you update Flash and tell your friends and family. Keep in mind that you have to install a separate flash player for Firefox and IE.

Chrome has Flash integrated into the browser and the browser should auto update itself.

Flash exploits are now the number one method hackers use to install malware.

Also be aware that Flash will ONLY offer to update itself when you reboot or log off/on. It never offers an update any other time. If you get a Flash update offer any other time it should be viewed as suspect. Best practice is to X out of the window and go to Adobe.com and get it yourself.

ok, this may sound stupid but i have to ask,,

i d/l-ed the day you posted, FP, and it seemed to install w/no woes.

is there a way i can check for sure, because when i go into Add/Remove, I see what was there prior to installing update, i.e., "Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX" { i guess because we are still at a version 10 }.

is there some other place to check that it installed properly? i just want to make sure,,,

thank u,

It really doensn't have anything to do with Mac/Windows. It's a Flash player vulnerability.

The Ipad, (maybe all Macs ?) doesn't allow flash, not an option and can't be installed. Of coarse, that limits a few things too.
