LCD Wide Screen Monitor
I still have my old 19" LCD LG that I bought 4 years ago. I'm now looking at a 27 inch wide screen monitor:

Since I'm a gamer, how does wide screen work with games like Team Fortress which is the primary game that I play on. Would this monitor be good enough for gaming? At Costco across the street from where I work, they have it listed at $279.99.

First off, any modern game (like from the last 6 years) can handle widescreen mode (and yes TF2 does wide screen as do all Valve games).
Before buying something quite that big, make sure it's practical for you. Going from 23 to 27 inches all you're doing is looking at bigger pixels. The resolution is the same. However it sure makes those desktop fonts more readable.
Since you're a gamer, you also need to know if your vid card can even handle 1920 x 1080 Resolution (native res on this monitor). What res are you running now? What model vid card? Sure you can lower the res, but it won't look as sharp. You always want to try running a game in native res when possible.
That's a ridiculously good price for a monitor that size, but I'd read some reviews:

I think I might be interested in this 23 inch:

for the price: $149. Its even cheaper than Costco.

Went back to Costco and decided to by the 23" instead. I had the guy hook up the 27 inch to a PC he had running. Like FP said, the pixels are much larger on the 27 and the fonts don't look as crisp as the 23. The 23 from Samsung, model B2330, was $179.99 which was not a bad price.
The reviews at Amazon are mixed on this monitor and did not have a lot of feedback, but if I don't like it I can always return it with no questions asked.

Here is a decent deal on a 22" Dell. Only drawback is that it does not have VESA mount holes on the back for wall mounting.
