I can't do crap in multiplayer at work since the update. When I login, I'm usually in the middle of space & if not, everything I do takes like 10-15 seconds to happen (or worse, it never happens). Never had any issues at work till the update. At home, all seems to work fine (a bit laggy, but mostly fine).

Hmmm. If it was happening BOTH at home and at work, I'd suspect your user data file on the server was corrupt. Sometimes happens. Happened to me the other day and had to delete the file.
Maybe you have connectivity issues to South Florida from work? Try running a trace route to the server from work and see if there's any bad hops.
You can try connecting to my server (I'll PM you the IP in case you've misplaced it).
If the problem persists we can delete your user data file and see if that helps. You'll want to have Poopie or me do it and you'll need to put all your inventory (INCLUDING ARMOR!) in a chest first because deleting the data file nukes your inventory and resets your location to the spawn.
Deleting the user data file does fix a multitude of problems.
Server mods are slowly coming back online. Teleport & warp are working again (and if you don't know how to use Warp then ask - you can set public warp locations and teleport to them). The store and repair shops were broken by the update but Poopie said he might have them fixed today.
All the current mods and Drexul's latest textures are always available on LosBot's server here: http://strike.net/minecraft/
Ask anyone for help installing the mods if you need it.
BTW: You really need to get on Teamspeak. Even if you haven't got a mic, it's more convenient to help you with problems on the server (you can type and listen).
A lot of what Minecraft is about is the community. We're on Teamspeak coordinating projects all the time and if you need help with a plugin, or need an admin to relocate an object or chunk of real estate, just holler. Poopie, Taz & Drexul have access to World Edit and they can pickup and move, or duplicate anything. Makes working on large projects easier.
Dante just built a nuclear sub on land and then had Drexul relocate it so it's partially submerged off the coast with access to the interior via the conning tower and the sub is all lit up by glowstones under water. Very cool.
Warp point is called SUBLACLASS
To teleport there type in chat window: /warp sublaclass
Make sure you have flying enabled (good practice whenever you teleport!) or you'll end up in the drink.

The other interesting thing about this game is the complete malleability of the world. The holy grail of future gaming is completely alterable/destructable worlds. This is VERY hard to do ESPECIALLY in a multiplayer environment.
Most FPS games have static maps with some minor alterable items (windows break, cars explode for instance in Black Ops), but that's it. A few games like the original Red Faction tried to give us a destructible environment, but it was still limited to certain areas and other than removing walls it didn't do much more.
The reason this is an issue is due to the sheer raw processing required to manage the entire world. Up to now only super computers used by weather forecasters had that kind of power.
Minecraft may not look pretty (and part of that is a fashion statement on the author's part) but the "blockiness" of the world is completely due to the limits of processing power and the author's desire not to hide it.
Don't be fooled - you need a beefy PC to run this game with a good graphics card, even for the default ugly 16bit color textures, and this game crushes servers.
A single block in Minecraft is essentially an "atom" in that universe - you can't break anything into a smaller particle than a block.
Each block has several values associated with it: texture, weight, momentum, location, velocity, etc. These values all need to be kept track of by the game (mainly the server in multiplayer) and altering one block may affect hundreds or thousands of other blocks.
On a normal map there are over 8 million blocks and EACH ONE has to be individually modeled. We user a larger than normal map on our server so we may have something like 16 million blocks.
For instance, when Taz activated his trap and started the water flowing the first time, the server ground to a crawl until all the water pathways had been fully calculated and the water flows had all settled down. While the water all flowed and seeked it's path, there were tens of thousands of blocks whose states were having to be recalculated constantly (is it wet, is it dry, is water falling on it and is water flowing off it and in what direction and what speed? Is the block standing still or is it floating in the water and if so what is the direction and velocity?).
When all that's taken into consideration, it's amazing something like that can be modeled at all. I guess that's why the game grabs you - we've never seen a COMPLETELY alterable game environment with physics before.
This is probably the first hint of what will come in the future. Me personally I can't wait for Call of Duty 29 when every particle on a map can be altered and a town looks like a true battle zone after a round is over.

Part of why I don't use TS is because I'm in a public area when I'm on at work & work is where I have the most time to play (have a kid & wife at home that get jealous if I'm on too long). I'll consider running it at home though.
Thanks for all the help yesterday... even if it only established that there wasn't much to be done. Hopefully, it'll fix itself.

No prob. Some of the other guys also prefer not to use it for various reasons.
BTW: Taz is rebuilding the railroads into a modern system with switching circuits so if teleport goes down again we have a reliable backup. One of the stations is over between you and Gabesir. It's the big red brick building that appeared last night.
Most of the skyways will be coming down and an elevated train will replace them.

Okay, so for some reason only known to the size of my pocket book, I've been putting off and putting off purchasing Minecraft even though you guys have been talking about it, and it seems like such an awesome game. Well, I finally decided to watch some of the videos, as well as the tutorials available on the Minecraft website, and I can't help it anymore, I'm gonna go ahead and buy it. It looks like such an awesome game.

I can completely agree with that assessment. I've been messing around in Minecraft single player for about two hours now, and after some false starts, I'm on my way to building my first real house. This is one of the most awesome games I have played in... well, years, I think. Best $20.76 I've spent in a long while!
Now, back to my Minecrack. Very apt name.
