Yeah, looks like the server glitched late last night or this morning. The mine I was working on reset on me as well.

Sorry. Nature of the beast when you're playing a beta. Doesn't happen often, though.

I feel your pain. We lost the Shuttle that way after it was 50% complete. Almost didn't have the heart to start it again. :(

Poopie backs up the server once a week but he's looking into installing a plugin that does nightly backups.

Yeah, if that happens much, I'm gonna get over it real quick.

Pretty rare, and we're a little puzzled as to why it happened since the server's been stable. We had issues a few weeks ago which turned out to be a corruption of the world map, but it's been fine since then.

If I see you around later, I'll drop by and donate a few goodies that will hopefully make up for it.

BTW: Do you have the flying mod installed? If not, I can walk you through it.

Oh, I think I'm over it. It was just depressing to see about 5-7 hours of work down the drain. Hopefully if it doesn't keep happening I'll be good. I will say that I almost always have to log off & back on once or twice on the way to my place from the spawn due to massive 40x40ish gaps in the landcape that go down to bedrock.

If you haven't noticed where I'm at, I'm in the mud hut at the top of a hill north of the pagoda (not doing anything fancy till I have enough materials).

No mods installed at the moment. Wasn't sure if flying was allowed.

Flying is allowed if you install the Zombe mod, just use the default flying speeds. Anything faster than a 2.5x speed multiplier really hammers the server's CPU.

Yeah, "glitching" is what those huge voids are called. Happens every so often in multiplayer and you just disconnect and reconnect.

I checked the mod. Bit of a pain to set up. Not sure if I did it right. Will have to check.

Beta 1.3 update was released today.

The update will reset your MINECRAFT.JAR file and if you're using 128 or 256 bit textures it will crash on restart. You'll just need to move Drexul's texture zip file out of the TEXTUREPACKS folder and the game will run.

I'm guessing the mods won't work until new versions are released but I'll try it later.

Looks like the update also broke mods on the server - the real time map is down.

Back to ugly textures and the basics for a while.

Here's a list of new features:

Normalicy, here's the new upgraded flying and texture mods for 1.3:

Zombe's Flying Mod: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19090066/minecr ... 1.3_01.zip
This has to be installed just like you did the first time. Follow the instructions. You may want to backup your old CONFIG.TXT file so you don't have to re-edit it.

HD Texture fix: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?t=46173
This is just the patcher. Run it, click the 3rd Browse button down, use it to select the Minecraft Enhanced Zip file that should still be in your .minecraft folder, then click the Patch button.

Drexul's texture pack still works with it as before.

For those who can't fathom why we "Crack Heads" waste our time on this game, here's an interesting article that may explain it for you: http://bygonebureau.com/2011/02/18/bein ... thingness/

The game has now sold 1.2 MILLION copies at approx $22 each U.S. (do the math), and there's just one programmer who created it (although he has now hired a staff since he can afford it!). Keep in mind that this game is still a BETA.

Oh, and since Notch has the money to spare, he had a commercial made to coincide with the announcement that they're working on iPhone/iPad version, and Android version:

<object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/P3Ci09GwAmg?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/P3Ci09GwAmg?fs ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>
