Yep, socket AM2. I don't believe they made an Opteron for 939.
Whoops, I lied. CPU world shows the Opteron 165 though 185 are dual core 939 processors.

As to whether that board will support it, I seriously doubt it. The BIOS has to support Opteron boards, and if I remember correctly, very few non-server class boards did.

Thanks guys, I figured as much but I wasn't sure you guys had any old tricks / mods you might have known remembered. I was able to call in a few markers and reacquire some old hardware I have passed forward to a somewhat tech savy family member and reacquired from them a Athlon 64 3500+ with a beefier HSF plus my old MSI 7900GT vid card. I think that with the ram I have coming in will help make this PC a bit snappier. Not sure what i want to do with it but i may donate it to another less fortunate person I know that is out of work and needs a PC. His old PC was a PIII eeeekkk!

That little system I put together played Left 4 Dead 2 relatively well. We had a mini LAN party with four of us playing, and I got stuck on it. Aside from the ancient drivers and some graphical glitches, it was playable, and I only died once
I'm fairly impressed with how well it did, with how old it was.
