Only downside - All of our monitors here at the shop are older VGA-only LCDs. When this does come about, looks like we'll probably be needing to upgrade, since it looks like they're also phasing out dvi-i support as well.

Oh well. Five years to go.

That's a good thing to know, thanks FP. Of course, in about five years time, I'm imaging most of those 5+ year old LCDs will be dead and replaced. So it may very well be a moot point.

There will always be adapters, so no worries. When the main market leaves, a secondary market always moves in.

Last time I used VGA was to hook up an old laptop to my TV... S-video or VGA, what would you choose?

I have all my Media Center TVs connected to my TVs via VGA. There's never any overscan issues as with HDMI, and the computer senses the proper resolutions and refresh rates without tweaking.

I hope they never stop making TVs with VGA.

Never had a problem using HDMI from a PC to a TV. Might just be your older systems giving it an issue...

My oldest TV overscans in HDMI from a PC. Haven't even tried on the newer ones.

The only times I have noticed it do that is when you have it hooked up dual screens to another monitor that is using a different resolution.

I like having HDMI for the having both video and audio in one cable. Most TVs with VGA also don't tend to support as high of a resolution either. But if it works, don't fix it right?
