LOL - I loved the original Mario game on the console since you could not save it. It took me almost a hundred times before I was able to finally finish it from start to finish.
Yeah, kids today have no ideal what its like to have to sit and "beat a game" in one shot. Games i remeber beating:
Contra
all 3 marios
snakes revenge... but it did have save points
megaman 1-4
... I can't remember many more. I think i have gotten close on some other games, but that was a long time ago.

Games I could beat:
-Mario 2
-Mario 3
-Contra (without ever dying)
-Super Contra (without ever dying)
-Marble Madness
-I could get to Level 22 in Tetris
-R.C. Pro-Am
forgot about super contra. I hated those puffy things at the end that came at you. That last part in marble madness was such a pain with the floor all moving around. Sadly i never played Metroid. I did beat the super Nintendo version.

i remember playing mario 2 or 3 all in one sitting with a buddy...we had to keep the system on all weekend and it was burning up...we were freaking at the end trying to win before the system melted. lol ...not smart enough to put a fan on it. we were also hoping for no storms/power outages. haha!
