Steve Gibson Kindle 3 video show & tell
They have dramatically sped up the page turns, not that the Gen 2 is all that slow for me. I do like the smaller size while maintaining the same size screen.
Staples will also start carrying them.

I got mine on Aug 27th. I really like it. The browser does work although I leave the wireless off to conserve battery life unless I'm buying a book. If I can remember, I'll post a pic of PCA rendered on the kindle. The text to speach function works pretty well although it's disabled on some books.
I'm really glad I bought this. The e-paper is much easier on the eyes than an LCD. I also like that I can get a book immediately rather than wait for it to come in the mail or drive to the nearest bookstore (40 miles for me). The Kindle came ready to use out of the box. All I had to do is charge it which takes 4 hours over USB.

I thought that there was no way Amazon was going to get these out on time so I started reading Stephen King's Tommyknockers. I was 1/4 of the way through when the Kindle arrived. I actually bought it on the Kindle because there was no was I was going to let my new toy sit while I finish my book.darcy wrote:i had pre-ordered, too, Err, and it came while i was on vacation, ~ but it is a xmas gift for hubby so he has to wait, but i am glad to hear u are happy w/it

So the browser in the new one is actually usable? Because the browser in Kindle 2 is practically useless. Not that I care since that's not what I bought it for.

I haven't messed with the browser too much because it's not what I bought it for. While I haven't posted from it, I can actually log in to PCA. There are not many options for the browser though. For instance, if a link directs to a new window, it can't open it. It's really a bare bones browser. However, for checking e-mail or forums, it's sufficient.

There are many options for reading books. You can choose text size, choose from 3 different fonts, and orientation of the screen.

well, no luck with mine yet. i can't get it to connect to any wireless network i've tried (with and without security). yes, wifi is enabled on the device.
i also can't get it to connect properly via USB, so i'm wondering if it's dead. the display looks amazing though...
update: finally got it up on wifi and syncing...had to reset it multiple times and it started joining networks properly. seems to be perfectly fine now.

yup, you can change the screen orientation from within the font setup menu...it doesn't auto adjust like other devices, but not a big deal. Are there any kind of rotation options or are you stuck in portrait?
