Aww yeeeaahh.... The entire world loves us...except for Quebec of course :)

It's funny though. In the Aviation department it's the complete opposite. I used to fly all over North America with my parents, and the flying in the US was so much nicer.

For instance - We took two seats out of the plane and brought a Honda scooter with us. We never ONCE used the scooter in the US. There was always a car to borrow or a cab waiting for us when we landed.

You can buy gas at some places and leave an IOU!

I must say the nicest place I've been to in the States is New Orleans.

Yeah, they love us so much that they want to leave. Too bad they are surrounded by the rest of the nation and don't have the means to be an independant nation without help. Which they will have no problems asking us for I bet. Bah!

I work with a guy who was born in Montreal, and spent his first 20+ years there. Once he moved here, he got married, had kids and all that, and eventually lost his accent enough so that it is not noticable. When he goes back home to visit his family now, he is treated like dogshit by Frenchies that don't know him, because they think he isn't from around there. Basically the same way those of you in the US get treated by France. Ridiculous.

For growing up, Canada is a good place for kids and all. But when it comes to job opportunities, I believe a better chance can be had with the US. I myself am a Canadian immigrant, spent most of my child-hood here for the past 17yrs, and honestly I hate the weather up here. Its too fricken cold!! Especially for a boney dude like me, hehe

I just have an undying LOVE the Rockies, its so awe inspiring and breath taking, so Denver and Vegas are my kinda place to spend the rest of my live in :) I've been to Vegas 5 times, and every time I go I really hate to turn back home. Vegas is a place for insomniacs, and that definitely means ME!!! Yes, I'm an insomniac :(

Driving through the Rockies is very mind boggling. Definitely nature @ its best, I tell ya :) Almost got a chance to take a tour of Grand Canyon too, too bad we missed it :(

Canada? I dunno how we even get ranked as the best place to live in the world....

Summer's too short, winter's WAY too cold and feels like it lasts an eternity, oh god.

Free healthcare? Feh.
Multicultural? For the most part yes we manage to get along quite well, actually, if you don't count Quebec that is ;) hehe

I'm one of those folks, as Kevin (Kgdb) says, "Canada is a nice place to visit, but not its just not my kinda place to live" :)

Oh well, just let me keep dreamin'....one of these days I'll be sitting @ my house patio, sipping a drink with wife and kids and just enjoying the beautiful Rockies and enjoying live @ its best :lol

There's my shiny 2 cents :)

Well as far as the winters go, you really have to consider where you live Plucky. As I recall, aren't you from the prarie provinces? Not quite as bad in lower Ontario, altho today was DAMN cold despite the efforts of the sun. It's the wind chill that nails us more than anything here.

Hey Plucky, that's why I like global warming ;) Figure if it can raise the temp about 10degrees in the winter, I'll be in heaven. heheheh.

Hey, I didn't know we have so many Canadians here... :D

I live in Vancouver, and we have extremely good weather here, so there is no complaints from me. Weather is nice, people here drive fast thou, I was in Whistler this weekend and everybody were going at least 120-140km/h average... (I was one of them :D ) I don't think our traffics are that slow in Vancouver, it's usually the 10% of those stupid drivers holding up traffic... (They are usually in Toyota Corolla or Volvo!)

I just have to agree with you guys, Canada is simply a great place to raise kids, not as much crimes, and the environment is friendly. But we have the crazy taxes... :(

LOL! Coco, or the Handi-captic Hondie Civics eh ;)
Get the heck outta my way, or I'll run ya over with my YUKON/Safari!! :lol

My aunt used to have this Toyota Corolla, acceleration was just horrible. From one light to the 3rd light, the light weight suckerfish could only step up to 40km/h, hehe.

I find the Safari's, especially the older 4.3L V6 to be very powerful. My pop's got a 4X4, and it really shows its horse on the Rockies. Once you've reached a certain speed, then you floor it and it goes flyin', no bull. I did it several times, when following a string of heavy hauler trucks (around 5-6 of em all in the same lane), followed them @ 65MPH....once the cops where gone I floored it all the way up to high 95's in a matter of 10 seconds or less and just zoomed past all those heavy weights :)
Of course, having high octane gas prolly gave it a little boost eh.

Now that's what I call a rush! Pop's was sleeping beside me, so the 75mph restriction took a temporary backseat, hehe.

This was when we were on our way to Vegas from Winnipeg :)

Vancouver and TO is pretty much like LA when it comes to driving, just a tad friendler. Prairie Provinces are the most easy going, as I've found.

Canada Highway's simply suck though, 2-ways are VERY dangerous. Road deterioration doesn't help either :(

You know what I hate most though when it comes to highway driving? Its when there's a whole string of trucks on the right lane and a whole string of cars wanting to pass on the left lane, but the first fella on the left lane leading the pass takes his/her freakin time. It feels like an eternity just waiting for that person to finish the pass. The car's like almost parallel to the other truckers, only itching for a meter or two every second kilometer. OMG! That really annoys me, argh. If its an elderly person I can understand but for middle aged adult men and women there's no excuse for such slowness Wish we had cars like Inspector Gadget's eh, where you can extend all 4 wheels ;) hehe

Sorry for the rant fellas, just needed to get that outta the system :)

Damn anywhere, US or Canada has to be better than living in the UK we get taxed even worse than the Canadians and our services are only slightly better than a 3rd world country.

I can't wait to move out, I've been wanting to go to the US for the last 2-3 years maybe give Canada a go too. Do they need IT people (Managers, Projects) in Canada?

I reckon I've got 1-2 more years squatting in blighty before I can afford to move out.

We always need IT people, but I think the US has a higher demand. You tend to get higer wages in the US than in Canada. Try Jobshark.com or some other canadian job hunting board to see what you can get.
